For the installation of the incubators a team of helpers is needed to build the machines under supervision of the Petersime Field Service Engineer (FSE). In general, we will require helpers with various skill levels but mainly electrical, mechanical, and hands-on helpers.
The number of helpers is always mentioned on the agreed Order Confirmation for an estimated period. The Petersime FSE shall work 6 days a week and the installation time is calculated accordingly with working days of 10 effective working hours per day.
In some cases, Petersime will propose to have a 2nd FSE on site, mainly for training purposes. In most cases, we propose to reduce the helpers with 1 person in place of our trainee. Our trainee should receive food and lodging (same expectations as with FSE head supervisor) of the client. Petersime takes care of the flight and his salary. All our new FSEs have a technical background and skills that will help the installation in a good manner.
Team for installation of incubators
The size and qualification of the team needed for the successful installation & commissioning of the incubators is always mentioned in the Order Confirmation along with the required estimated time needed.
The provided time needed for the installation of the incubators is calculated by having skilled people with the correct tools (see below chapter) working 10 hours per day for 6 days a week.

1. Helpers
Motivated helpers with some years of on-hands experience in factory work. Main tasks will be unpacking, carrying of goods, handling the bigger parts of the incubator and silicone work.

2. Mechanically skilled helpers
Mechanical qualified helpers having minimum 2 years’ experience in industrial installation tasks. Main tasks will be assembling the incubators under supervision of Petersime. A mechanical skilled person is somebody with technical insight and is a precision-worker. He will also do the drilling, levelling, measurements, etc.

3. Electricians
Electricians qualified/certified by local law and having minimum 2 years’ experience in industrial electrical installations. Main tasks will be cabling and elec. connections motors, heaters, valves, sensors… Sections from 0.5mm till 6mm under supervision of Petersime. One or two of these electricians will also assist the FSE during commissioning.
Teams for the installation of other equipment
For the installation of other equipment found in the Order Confirmation such as, but not limited to, ventilation, electrical distribution and plumbing, local expert contractors are required to work alongside the Petersime FSE. The size of the teams is dependent on the job at hand and the contractor is responsible for ensuring that there are enough persons in his team, and that they have the correct tools for the execution of the job.
Petersime is providing very detailed drawings in PDF, DWFX and DWG format that contain the routing of those parts together with the measurements on the X – Y – Z axis.
1. Ducting and Air Handling Units
The placement of the Air Handling Units (AHU) and installation of ducting must be done by a professional ducting company. Size of ducts can vary from 250mm (10”) to 1.500mm (59”) in diameter and up to 6,00m (20ft) in length.
Having a professional ducting installer will ensure a swift and neat installation as they have the expertise, tools and lifting material in the shortest estimated time possible. The size of this team and the expected installation time is highly dependent on their estimation based on the drawings that were provided by Petersime.
2. Refrigeration Units (Room Coolers)
A refrigeration engineer is required for soldering copper pipes, vacuuming the soldered copper pipes and measure and adjust the refrigeration gas in the running room cooler unit.
Per supplied unit this HVAC-R specialist will need 1 day for the pipe installation and 1 day for assisting in the final commissioning towards the end of the installation.

3. Chiller Unit and similar oversized equipment
Mechanically skilled and licensed lifting equipment personnel is required for positioning the unit(s). A crane or forklift might be needed for the positioning of AHUs, electrical panels, …

4. Panels and doors
A skilled and experienced building contractor for sandwich panel installation is required for installation of the outside and/or walls, ceilings, and roof in case this is also part of the Petersime supply. This contractor shall bring the required team with tools for the job at hand so installing can be done in the estimated time. The Petersime FSE will be on site to remain available to answer any question that might arise.
5. Plumbing
If plumbing is part of the contract between client and Petersime, expert contractors for both arc and/or TIG welding black steel pipe and thermos-fusing PP-RCT pipes are required. This contractor has a team that has the right tools for the cutting, suspension, and welding. Pipes will need to be insulated after leak and pressure testing.

6. Electrical power distribution
Electricians qualified/certified by local law and having minimum 2 years’ experience in electrical power distribution are required for the termination of cables from the incubator components to the individual control panel. In case the cable distribution for the hatchery is included in the contract, the selected electrical contractor shall be equipped for the installation of cable trays/ladders, pulling cables and terminating the equipment with the cables to the provided electrical panels.
It is worth highlighting that the absence of the required / agreed amount of qualified personnel on-site, can result in major delays which ultimately will delay the first setting of eggs and extra costs towards installation.
Detailed timesheets
During the installation, the Petersime FSE(s) will provide a timesheet of the performed time. This document will contain not only the working time of the FSE, but also the number of helpers and their total working hours. Every week he will present this document and it should be signed by the client supervisor.
The details of this timesheet are used to measure the efficiency of the installation and benchmarked against the calculated number of working days.
